Interior Design – A Bright, Multi-Functional 340-Square-Foot Space

Posted by in Home Improvement Tips, on August 24, 2015

Designer Gillian Lazanik of Affecting Spaces shares how she transformed a small and confined main floor into a bright, open-concept space. See how she adds smart storage and hardworking furniture to create a home that’s perfect for hosting large dinner parties and gatherings.

Gillian kept the client’s social lifestyle in mind when designing this 340-square-foot house. They wanted a bright and open space, so Gillian decided to break down the walls that separated the main floor rooms. Despite the lack of space in the kitchen, it’s loaded with storage, and offers a peninsula that makes the flow to the dining and living area feel natural. A built-in dining table bench provides additional storage, while an entertainment unit doubles as seating and a foyer closet. A sofa is tucked beneath the open staircase, which provides an airy feel to the small home.
